The German automaker has announced the Mercedes-Benz G-Class Edition 35 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of its iconic SUV, outfitting the G350 BlueTec and G500 models in Europe with 18-inch wheels finished in bright black, while the front and rear bumper, wheel arch linings, exterior mirrors and the roof sparkle in obsidian black metallic. The special package will only be available on G-Class vehicles with a white, black or silver finish.
Complementing the aesthetic changes, the Edition 35 includes the Sport and chrome packages while the G500 also receives a performance exhaust system. Inside, a bespoke white and black two-tone interior is available, as well as an all-black interior for those that prefer subtlety. Red contrast stitching is a requisite part of the package and will be exclusive to the Edition 35.
As part of the celebration, Mercedes also honored Gunther Holtorf and his wife Christine, which have traveled nearly 559,000 miles and 215 countries with their G300 GD. The marathon vehicle will be on display to visitors in the Classic Cars section of the Mercedes-Benz Museum starting October 21. The G300 GD, nicknamed “Otto,” will also be immortalized in the Guinness World Records.
Mercedes has not confirmed whether the G-Class Edition 35 will make it to America, but it is intended to be a global model with each market branding its own name for the special edition.
