Porsche has confirmed that a diesel-powered Macan will eventually make its way into the US market.
The new offering will slot between the base Macan S and the range-topping Turbo trim, providing approximately 245 horsepower from a 3.0-liter turbocharged mill, Porsche Cars North America marketing exec Andre Oosthuizen told Automotive News.
"We are now busy with the development and the engineering," he noted.
The company already offers a Macan S Diesel in Europe and other markets, where the same 3.0-liter oil burner produces 258 ponies and 428 lb-ft of torque. It achieves a zero-to-62 mph time of 6.3 seconds, a top speed of 143 mph and a fuel-efficiency rating of approximately 45 mpg in mixed European cycles.
The diesel variant is expected to be ready for the US market sometime late in 2015, likely with a price tag around $60,000.
